Recently I read an article about doing a random act of kindness daily. Random acts of kindness can be holding the door open for a stranger or even paying for the next person’s order in line. I decided to do the challenge and from my experience of doing random acts of kindness for 2 weeks, much has changed in my life. I have been more aware of my surroundings and environment which has resulted in me having more appreciation of the simple things in life. Helping and demonstrating appreciation for others can be gratifying and rewarding. Below are some ideas you can do that don’t require money and goes a long way in helping someone other than yourself.
Writing a hand written note to a friend or loved one to express your appreciation or gratitude will go a long way. Making a person feel appreciated can strengthen your relationship and bond.
Compliment People Within Your Team
Praising or complimenting a team member in front of an audience can have a positive effect on an employee and your team as it displays that your are conscious and aware of their hard work and effort.
Clothes that you no longer wear that are collecting dust in your closet can and should be donated. Give back and think about others. Donating clothes not only can help someone else but can be used as an income tax write off.
Local Homeless Residents
More valuable than money, giving someone your time is something that we can never get back. Dedicate an hour or 2 monthly and provide assistance to another in need. It doesn’t have to be a homeless shelter. It can be at your local Ronald McDonald House.
I have provided a link to a great site coffee cup and kids for additional ideas you can do for random acts of kindness.
